There are basically two types of Second Life entertainment sims: A hobby sim where you literally role play as an entertainment operator with no defined objective, or a production sim, which is premised on a brand, product, and target demographic. Few entertainment related sims proceed with this basic philosophy, which is why 98% of them remain empty most of the time.

Consumer expectation in SL and RL is identical in that… People DO want a brand of some type. You can't be everything to everybody, so throwing everything but the kitchen sink at your sim, in hopes capturing some type of following is… Comparable to spinning your wheels in the mud and as many continue to do.

DJ Dave (also operator of the world class nightclubbiz.com) has invested over two years into observing and working with the largest entertainment operations in Second Life. In essence, there is little divide between the demands of the entertainment consumer in SL, and the one in RL -in fact they both originate from the same arena, contrary to the misguided belief of a number of roll playing operators here.

DJ Dave provides help in both concept development and brand identity for new startups and existing entertainment operations in Second Life. So what's the end result? It's the difference between a sim, which idles at 1 to 3 AV's 99% of the time, while experiencing occasional, small bursts of traffic, and… A sim that can sustain 30, to 40 AV's around the clock by virtue of defined identity, and… 'expected' product offering.
